We stayed 7 night in two rooms. In the first one, nobody changed sheets nor bin bag (6 nights). In the second one, the light went off in the building all the night. No fire alarm, emergency, no cooking, no hot water, nor toilet paper or bin bags. The staff didn´t do anything for us. They refused to help us (they only gave us a torch) and they were really unpolite. They didn´t even let us to stay for a few minutes after chexking out time to have a shower. Horrible and expensive. The hostel was disgusting-room smelt of urine and was filthy. Hostel refused to refund for the room nor remaining night. Staff were rude and unhelpful with the issue. On a positive, the location was great. Richard, from England ~ 26th Oct 2009

I found this hostel dirty, and the hall smelled of vomit. The radiators banged and clanked all night. I left early and moved to Argyle Backpackers which was much nicer. Bridget, from England ~ 19th Oct 2009

The Hostel has been okay, but our television fell down during the night. The staff told us that this is usual at this room. It`s very bad that they don`t do anything against something like that. It is also a paradise for thieves. because with your key you`re just able to lock the door like you would use a door handle. But i have to say that the location is perfect! Arrival was met with friendliness and ease. Option to keep bag at reception till u are allowed to book into room was great. Location was the center of every thing, arms reach of atms, tours ect. Internet was more expensive than most places 1 pound for 15min, to short. Showers could have used some more hooks for hanging stuff. Toilets, were for the most part clean. Beds were springy but an extra fold of the douv'e fixed that. and smaller rooms only guarantee that ur be closer to a snorer. Jack, from New Zealand ~ 20th Sep 2009

The hostel staff were helpful. The common room was decent and the beds were fine, but the bathrooms were flooded. I didn't dare take a shower. Its fine for one night, but I wouldnt spend a week here. There are better places in Edinburgh, for the same price. But the location is good. 2 mins to The Royal Mile and 5 mins to the station. Laura, from Australia ~ 17th Aug 2009

The location of the hostel is great, but the location of the room I stayed was quite noisy. The staff was friendly though quite busy. Lu Hua, from Finland ~ 4th Aug 2009

Very disappointing hostel. The photos on hostel world are not what I was greeted with when I got to my private dorm. It was dirty and run down. The private ensuite was filthy. I would not stay here again. I have stayed at other hostels in Edinburgh for half the price and cleaner. Kylie, from Australia ~ 12th Jul 2009

A really fantastic location, a minute from the busses and in the middle of everything. Not a nice smell, not really clean roomes and you can hear eveything on the streets but TOTALY worth every penny. I can recommend it!! Johanna, from Sweden ~ 7th Jul 2009

I've stayed there before, but not in the other house. It was a bit loud by the door, it creacked alot and it sounded like people were going into our room, when they were just entering the house. The staff was great and very helpfull and it was rather clean. I would recomendate this hostel to anyone! Johanna, from Sweden ~ 19th Jun 2009
