I like the truly hot showers, the other clientele, the free breakfasts, the staff and their helpfullness. It was very nice how they let me cook my dinners in their kitchen and showed me how to prepare the local vegetables. I had a lot of fun!

the hostal was located close to parque central, which was nice! lots of bars within walking distance. although after a night of drinking, the dorm beds are still quiet hard!

This Hostel was exactly what we were looking for in Antigua and we will definately stay here again. The staff were so helpful and friendly, and the free breakfasts we excellent. Possibly the best pound for pound hostel I have stayed at.

The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. The free breakfast was awesome. It can be a little noisy in the morning or late night if you have a room that faces the street. But otherwise a great place to stay!
El Hostal is a really nice place to stay in Antigua. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hostel is spotless and has plenty of hot water. It is a very short walk from the Parque Central. AND THE BREAKFAST!!! The breakfast is really excellent. The only complaint I would wage is that the beds in the dorm are not so terribly comfortable and a lot of light comes in early in the morning. But overall, it was a wonderful place to stay.

Absolutely spotless, totally adorable place with great free bfast. For some, might be a little far from Parque Central, but I was happy with the walk (maybe 6 blocks?). Staff was friendly, very low-key place. Overall, safe and super clean.
On the upside, the location is across from one of the best bars in the city, the courtyard is nice, and the bathrooms were clean. the downside was the staff spoke very little English and the rooms were spartan and lacked windows.

very pretty courtyard with hammocks, plants and coffehouse feeling! good place to hang out and relax (or party in the evenings)! really nice staff!
