Some of the staff was good. The room was dirty and the walls didn't go all the way to the roof with only a thin bit of lattice separating you from the room next to you. The discussing level of cleanliness was only excided by the foul odour. And the noise of the people all around you both on your floor and above was loud and went on all night. The showers are broken and filthy and the toilets were never cleaned. I would give this place a rating of 1½ /10

The check-in counter to this hostel is in the corner-shop below. The baggage storage is in the corner shop, unsecured. Many rooms don't have windows and hence an awful smell, the standard of cleanliness is very weak at the best of times. The kitchens are mostly shocking and the perceived levels of security are terrible. It's not worth saving the extra few dollars.

Pros: Cheap, close to everything, across road from markets. Cons: *sigh*. No cooking equipment to use. Linen filthy. Some of the staff less than helpful. Dodgy security (we had randoms follow us in by force) and apparently no one on duty throughout the night. No free breakfast as advertised. Disappointing .

I am not a very fussy hostel goer...but this place was absolutely vile...but mostly due to some of the other guests that were there...not the actual hostels fault... my friend (also female) had some trouble with some of the drunk male guests several of the nights we stayed...there is no staff at night...so i wouldn't recommend this place if you are a solo female...

if you want to stay in a refuge with dirty old men staring you out of it,then this is the spot for you. backpacked from cairns right down to melbourne and i have to say that this hostel is without doubt, the dirties, smelliest one i have been in. cold showers, filty kitchens, and wierdos constantly walking around the place,i would not put a dog in this hostel. it would be more comfortable to sleep on a rock than in the beds they supply.

Misrepresented by photos on the net. Didn't come up to standard expected - we weren't expecting alot but this was even less than that! Staff helpful when needed.
