Place is very good for people who wants to save money/facility and it is near the putong pasir mrt. Only issue is that there is no bus passing in there location anymore from the airport, you need to use the taxi service from the airport to the place. Efren Carlos, from Philippines ~ 13th Feb 2012

The most comfortable beds ever, you are able to get a double bed in the dorm and it's the best nights sleep I've had in a long time. Laundry cheap and efficient and the massage chair is amazing and just what you need after a flight. Just make sure you have the correct address, I got the directions off Empires website and they are directions to the old hostel so had to take a taxi which they reimbursed half of, but I still think it should have been the full amount. Great little backpacker located close to the MRT so all the stops are easy to get to. The lady at check-in was friendly and always said hello. Rooms were basic(we stopped in the dorm) lockers were provided and there was good aircon. Breakfast was limited to porridge toast and coffee, better than none!! and the internet was available via wifi and a desktop pc. The massage chair was a bonus!! It was fairly quiet, though the lounge was in great shape for a social. Edward Mark, from England ~ 29th Jan 2012

Empire Hostel is really an amazing hostel. I can feel at home here. it's very convenient because it's near to MRT station and there is hawker center just downstairs. It's very clean and safe..that's why i love and enjoy my stay in Singapore... romeo, from Philippines ~ 15th Jan 2012

For a short stay this hostel is fair enough, great location (next to Jl.Besar & Jl.Syed Alwi intersection). Quite close with two MRT (Farrer Park & Lavender), easy to get food and close to Mustafa Center.....I just need to take a walk in minutes in 3 a.m from Mustafa Center hehehe. I took private room with 3 beds (2 bunkbeds), it is clean but quite small and the wall is not strong enough when you lean on it hehehe. And the floor a bit shaking when someone is walking the aisle. On my last they asked me to transfer to another room and it's fine with me. However, I can't sleep on my last night because there are lots of bed bugs on my bed and I got insect bites. Hope this issue would address. But in general, if I were asked where I would like to stay in Singapore together with my family. I'll choose Empire. They have a free breakfast, the internet connect is excellent and I found new friends from different countries. Isagani, from Philippines ~ 10th Oct 2011

The hostel is affordable and if you are budget conscious, this hostel is a great place for you, rest rooms are shared though but they keep it clean at all times. Dont expect too much on the free breakfast since they just put bread, spreads and coffee on the table and it's self service. The owner is friendly. Nice location, many resto nearby even at midnight. adelyn, from Philippines ~ 16th Oct 2011
