The Formosa Backpacker's Hostel was a great place to spend the night. The beds in the dorm were clean and comfortable and the place felt very home-y. Our stay was well-worth the price. I would be happy to return there in the future to stay for longer, and from the pictures and messages others had left behind, they all felt the same. Great place!

i enjoyed my stay there tremendously. great place run by a friendly girl & 2 adorable dogs. she's able to help you with bookings of almost anything - river rafting, surfing, cycling, tours etc. it's also a good comfy place if you just want to wind down & take things easy. look no further!

It was a standard Hostel. Pretty clean, and relativly comfortable. However, I reserved beds in the quieter 6 beds dorm at the back of the hostel and arrived to find myself in the louder 8 bed dorm overlooking the raod. :-( Other then that it was fine and pretty easy to arrange.

Not so much privacy coz get disturbed by other tenants especially during the sleeping hours at nite. We've paid for private room with bathroom but was used up by other tenants as well. Furthermore, we have to buy the mineral water to quench our thirsty. Anyway, it's quite clean and the owner is friendly

The hotel advertised on the net states it is air-conditioned. Only 2 rooms are air-conditioned. We were given a room that was carved out of a quarter of the reception room without air-con or fan. It was noisy when there was traffic outside and people watching TV. I would not recommend the hotel to others. A partial refund should be made. I found a hotel opposite the railway station which is cheaper and more spacious.

Very convenient location. I had the downstairs all to myself. I would highly recommend staying here.

This is one of the most attractive hostels at which I've stayed around the world. The furnishings are new and attractive, and the rooms are spacious and bright. The owner is helpful and friendly. There is a large library of books in English and some in Chinese. I wish I had more time to stay in Hualien so that I had more time to stay at this hostel!
