- “ We loved our stay at Gem River Edge Eco Home. It was close to Yala National Park and to the town of Kataragama. The staff was wonderful. They booked a safari for us as well as calling tuk-tuks when we needed them. Dinner was nice, all ingredients fresh from their garden. They don't have A/C in the rooms and it's very hot. The fan was decent but the humidity was too high for it to be very effective. The cold-water showers were refreshing. The monkey playing outside of the room added appeal. ”

- “ A very peaceful place amidst nature and wildlife, but still not far away from town. We really loved staying there, and would stay there longer if we had the time (wouldn't mind living like that either!). The beds were comfortable and they offered delicious vegetarian meals. Seems to be a lot of things to do and a lot of nature to see, and of course the visit to Yala national park is mandatory - don't miss it! ”

“ During my 5 weeks in Sri Lanka Gem River Edge was the best and most peaceful of them all. The staff of the hostel was the most kindful and caring people I have ever met. If you want to live extremely close to the nature, this is the perfect place for you. Very close to the hostel (in the back yard) the gem river is located. When we first arrived the owner took us down to the river and showed a crockodile just like that. He also fixed our trip to yala national park for a good price! ”
