Room was tiny - Double bed with quite literally half a foot gap to the two walls! Door only just opened! On the other hand bed was very comfy! Serious draught through the window though which was chilly.

the staff is completely useless. The hostel is nice but internet and TV not available after 9pm and the kitchen closes at 11pm. Recommended only for a 1-2 days staying.

Great place to meet people. Hostel is half way to the Queen St and to Newmarket. It is great to leave in the morning with the beautiful Auckland Domain in front of you. On the other hand, internet access is very slow, some of our biscuits disapeared from the kitchen and somebody in our bedroom had problem with fleas. It was good there for 5 days, but now we moved to Kiwi International and it's more comfortable here.

not very helpful staff - didn't even tell us our room number or where to find the room!

The Backpackers itself was quite ok.. The only thing that was really bad was one old man that seemed to live there more or less permanent.. He was drunk and loud and made it impossible to sleep some nights! Kick him out and it would be a quiet nice place!

Relatively small hostel, and feels more "homey" than others i've stayed in. it's therefore slightly less "professional" and more informal. which is great if that is what you're looking for. the kitchen was clean and the bathrooms were fine. all in all it was a definite average hostel to stay in. nothing terrible, but nothing spectacular either.
