Gojo Guest House in Kyoto, Japan

This hostel is in a great location. It is right near Gion, which is a cool area to hang out at night. The staff was really great and really helpful also. It's not really the most fun or the cleanest, but they have a lot of good things to offer. Thomas, from USA ~ 3rd Aug 2009

I am not a very regular backpacker, but pretty easy to please, so I chose Go house, based on the reviews I read online. I have to say, that even though there was a cool and bohemian vibe, it was a littlebit rundown(for my taste). The japanese style bathroom is ok and all, but it was a kind of dirty and the sinks seemed to be falling apart. Nice Japan style hostel near Gion district in Kyoto. Great location nearby important sights. Friendly staff, good accomodation. The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen area are clean enough but some corners haven't been cleaned in ages. (for example the ventilator above the sink in the bathroom). Friendly, Japanese-style place. Good location; staff is knowledgeable, hospitable and speaks English very well. There is a cafe on the first floor, and you get free drink vouchers upon checking in. Happy with it stay! Paul, from USA ~ 14th Jan 2009

If you are a bit older than the traditional hostel crowd and do not mind bare-bones accommodations that are still comfortable, check out the Gojo Guest House. It is not luxurious, but it is clean, safe, and quiet. I enjoyed my stay. Alison, from USA ~ 2nd Dec 2008
