Golden Island Guesthouse in Budapest, Hong Kong

Location is excellent. Golden Island Guesthouse is near Temple Street market , Mongkok , restaurants , metro and bus. But rate was expensive. Staff was very pleasant , room very small , cleanliness was not perfect! Carlo, from Italy ~ 6th Feb 2012

At GIG you can expect a nice clean room, an unexpected comfortable bed, a very friendly and helpful stuff in the central area of kowloon. MTR is only a few minutes away from the hostel by walk, and a bus directly from HK airport stops close to the guesthouse too. Sadly there were no curtains on the window so the room was always illuminated by the outside lights (hangers + towel solved the problem) during the night. Matthias, from Austria ~ 5th Feb 2012

We have a great day while staying in your hostel. The room is clean and so the bathroom. Hoping in the near future we can stay again and recommend it to our friend. We hadn't anticipated that the rooms i the hostel would be so tiny! To close the door to the bathroom we had to sit on the toilet. But the biggest advantage is the location - it's in the very city center, close to the subway station and the night market. So, if you want to spend a couple of nights in the room without hanging out inside, that'll do, but if you want something comfortable, that won't be e best option Aleksey, from Russia ~ 10th Jan 2012

Better than the average Guesthouse/Hostel in HK.It was clean and safe which are the two most importnat thing when looking for a cheap overnight place in such a big city. The towel were very small and cheap but they worked.And the linens were very thin and I found a stain on my pillow, but again, they worked. Small things like better linens would go a long way to making this a better place but for the cost and location, it's still a good overall value. James, from USA ~ 31st Dec 2011

Pretty typical for cheap hostels in HK.Very small room, cramped bathroom. At this price this is what you will get everywhere. The staff here are helpful and cheerful, which is a plus. I stayed almost a couple of weeks after I rebooked to stay longer. With my rebooking they had to find an extra room and put me into another hostel in the same building 2 nights.A call girl was working out of one of the rooms and the noise and cig smoke was a pain.None of their own rooms had this problem Michael, from Australia ~ 22nd Dec 2011

Golden Island guesthouse lies in the heart of Kowloon close to bars, restaurants and the subway. The walk down to the seaside is very nice as well. The hostel itself is nothing more than exceptable - small rooms (ours was without windows), stains on bedsheets, but at least you have a private bathroom (clean) and very reliable hot water. So for this price in Hong Kong, it's okay, but if you wanna spend a little more than 20 euros per night, go somewhere else :-) Magdalena, from Austria ~ 2nd Dec 2011
