- “ Be careful, the deposit of 10% will not be subtract from the total as usual. Green Tortoise Backpackers has its own website where you can book. If you book through Hostels, HostelWorld or any other website, they will charge the 10% as additional fees. This was a really bad surprise when I checked in. ”

- “ I can't say anything bad about this place. It was very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and we appreciated the tasty breakfast meals and dinners. There were plenty of opportunities to take part in hostel activities...their computer room was awesome also. ”

- “ Friendly staff and nice rooms, with comfortable and solid bunk beds - not to underestimate for a proper sleeping experience! The room were cleaned daily thoroughly, and the restrooms were kept cleaned, too. Unfortunately, this concept of cleanliness and respect for the others was not shared by all guests, which is shameful but surely not the hostel's fault. What I really didn't like was the system in place at breakfast for cleaning dishes. I don't think it's very hygienic. ”

- “ Super: is on Broadway Ave: you are close to everything! This place is the answer if you wanna really have fun and share time with cool people from all around the world, this hostel is huge! Bike storage, plus they have a deal with a shop that is very close to the hostel. Free vegetarian dinners 2 times per week, breakfast every morning, special hints if you don't wanna spend thou$and$ for food, sauna, lots of restrooms, and the staff organize a lot of nice and supercool activities. I loved it! ”

- “ Great hostel!! The staff were super friendly and very helpful! Our room was super clean and there were tons of bathrooms (private too!) I liked the location (very close to china town) and downtown as well as the waterfront! Couldn't have asked for anything better! It wasn't terribly loud either! Awesome and would highly recommend this hostel to anyone!! ”

- “ For San Francisco, you can do better than this hostel. Super old and poorly maintained building in the middle of 4 blocks of strip clubs, unfriendly attendants, and cramped, hooot rooms (which is hard to do in wintertime SF, a place that NEVER gets hot...) that reek of terrible odors. "Free wifi" throughout the building, except that the signal's so weak you'll be lucky if you can read one email in your room before the connection sputters out. And it's not the cheapest either. Keep searching. ”

- “ I came to this hostel 15 years ago (yes, it was 1997!), and this is my second time. The place is even better than before. Rooms are ok, very clean toilets and great location. The staff is helpful, the hostel is a perfect choice if you travel solo or in couple and want to be in the center of Frisco's action. ”

- “ Awsome place! Breakfast, dinner 3 times/week, clean, cosy, computers/wi-fi and ATM at the hostel, very frendly staff, great location.. and for that kind of money! I would definitly rekommend this place to others. The only negative is that parking is 20 dollar/day and that it can be a bit noisy outside during nights (that's what you get when you live in the middle of the city). ”

- “ This place was AWESOME! Staff is wonderful, very playful and you actually see them glad to be there. Beds are great, things are all clean. Breakfast is superb, not to mention they give out free dinner every Mon-Wed-Fri, free beer some days, cheap dinner out other days. Location is great, plenty of tours to SF and even Yosemite, Alaska, etc. City is great, but staying at this place made the experience all the more delightful. Wi-fi is great and you get to meet a LOT of people from everywhere. ”
