The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They were more willing to lend a hand than the other hostels I've been to. Overall, it was enjoyable experience. The location wasn't as bad as I was led to believe. It's about a 10 minute walk to the eastern part of Kyoto, perfect for a bike ride. I would definitely come back if I happen to be in Kyoto again. One of the best hostels we've stayed in - taking into account four continents! Loved the atmosphere, decor, staff and location. We had heaps of fun. There is a beautiful little garden and lounge where you can relax. We hired some bikes and the staff were full of helpful pointers on where to go sightseeing and for dinner. Loved the traditional Japanese ryokan-type feel, would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others who are looking for something unique, homely and full of c Elizabeth and Campbell, from Australia ~ 18th Feb 2009
