Guilin Oasis Inn in Guilin, China

It was a nice place, the staff was great except for the owner/manager. He was always just bossing the staff around when it would have taken himself 30 seconds to do. Example: I need info and he asked if I needed anything and I explained and he just put it off to one of the staff. It made no sense. Most of the time he just stood around the main area and just pointed things out to the staff. It did not look professional at all and I do not think the staff likes working for him.

Thank you for your concerning the way of my working, I want to make it clear that this Inn is my home, the staff is of my relatives, they are the members of my family, I am as old as 58 , I am also a boss of Guilin General Translation Co. Ltd that set in at the same Inn, my professional work is to do translation at night, these young working staff need to be trained through practice, two of them just worked here less than two months, though they graduated from college, majored in English. I hope them soon matured and being able to shoulder responsibility of running the Inn regularly. That is the reason why I am bossing them to do this and to do that, to practice English they learned in the college.Thank you again.

Nice hostel and the staff were helpful with things such as tours or booking plane tickets. The rooms werent great though as we had originally booked in for shared bathroom but after seeing it we swapped to ensuite which had quite a few cockroaches in it. I had a great time staying at the inn. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, as was the owner. They managed to help me arrange a lot of my activities, including trying snake at one point at a restaurant. I highly recommend this place. Elizabeth, from USA ~ 23rd Jul 2009

The Staff spoke good English and were extremely helpful, even when I had a problem with my Airline reservation. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus station (turn left out of the front door - not the back where you get dropped off), Hotel is located on the right side of the street about two doors down a side alley. A little hard to find but it is in a good location. The Hotel has acess to a cab driver, he only charged 20Yuan for about 4-hours of taking me to different parks and Julianne, from USA ~ 16th Jun 2009

Bed linen and towels clean, room was big! A few small bugs the first evening, but generally no problems. Girls at the reception very friendly with a very good english, best english we met in China (incl. Beijing and Shanghai!)! Helped us to organize very nice day trips! Breakfast ok. The hostel is located in a building, not very funny. You could access to the bedrooms without being seen by the staff, some like mine aren't even on the same floor. The staff is nice but use the common room. I have never seen that before. My room was clean, but it seems there are cockroachs in some others. The toilet is the type on which you can't sit, and is in the bathroom, just next to where you stand. That's the point I dislike the most in this hostel.

Paid only 70Y/day for that room with air-conditioner, TV,Internet cable, a big bed and 24H hot supply, you can not expexct too much and aksed for more,such a price even for poor student in China is acceptable;only two this kind of room in the Inn, most of rooms (15)are two-bed standard room with privat bath room in it.By the way,ther are still quite number of foreign toursts who like it for it's cheap,feasible and comfortable.Sorry you can not enjoy our standard room, for only added 30 RMB you can do it!
