This hostl is a wonderfully restored historic mansion only a few blocks away from the amtrak station d the capital building. The room I stayed in had a huge vaulted ceiling and it was a wonderful stay.

Great place to stay - beautiful mansion setting - convenient location. Upstairs rooms currently being rennovated (Nov 2007) so space may be limited. I got the downstairs dorm room - ok but would prefer upstairs next visit.

HI Sacramento was satisfactory to excellent in all regards. Its a beautiful old mansion, which seems to bring out the best behavior in guests and staff alike. Comfortable, safe, clean, quiet and very well run.

Awesome to stay in a historical mansion. Unfortunately, when I wanted to check out there was a "back in 5 minutes" sign - and I waited over 45 minutes! The building itself is incredible and it is well worth the stay - just be patient with the staff.

it was pleasant and all....but we did not like the decor. to be honest the whole florally thing was scary and it reminded us of something out of a horror movie. the bedding was frilly and it freaked me out. i did appreciate the laundry facilities. oh and i think that chargin for towels is really rude. environment my ass, chargin for towels is just cheap.

I would prefer to have history of Sacramento, not men of power. I think, and I meet and speak to many travelers at hostels all over - they want to know about places and the history about places. Information on men of power is not sought in the context of travel. Sacramento seems to have an exagerated fixation on men and power, too bad it cannot see itself as the City of Sacrament that it truely is, instead of the homeof the power brokers!
