The Hi Hostel provided a great price for a lodging on MV. I was there do a concert and came over a day before to chilled out. I liked the location, which was nestled away in quiet W. Tisbury. The semi-remote location of HI added to its charm. As an African-Am, I was not impressed by the my initial encounter from the Manager who was someone abrupt and brash upon my arrival to the front desk. It was the tone he used before greeting me - asking me if I had a reservation and could I wait a minute while the front desk shift changed. He later warmed up and gave me a very enthusiasm tour. I met some very nice dorm mates and I loved access to free Internet. I look forward to returning soon! - Mr. Patterson

great place to stay!
I've stayed in many hostels but this was the best ever experience I had, and mainly because of the staff and people I met there. The place has a great laid-back vibe to it overall and that made my vacation - my thanks to Jeff and his team, and especially Moishe :)

Ok however during my stay was not really a ýouth hostel'...many more older people than youth However, staff were very kind and friendly and helpful, Free Internet and Breakfast. Bus stop right outside door.
great place, but in the middle of nowhere (if possible). if you want to go out at night, have a car, or a desire to bike on pitch black roads.
the location was not close to the towns, but the bus stop right in front of the hostel was convenient enough. be aware that taxis are expensive and that the price doubles after midnight. it's best to go home early on the bus. in the female dorm room on the lower level -- there was an ongoing problem with folks slamming the door to the room. if there's a way to address that issue -- big signs about not slamming the door, putting something in the doorframe to soften the sound, installing a door that will close behind you so folks won't slam it -- that would be great. i liked that there was no tv blaring in the common room. i also thought the pancake mix was excellent. i'd stay there again... just wouldn't sleep near the door. oh, and the staff was great - friendly, helpful. (thanks, jeff)
Not enough oversight of unruly guests late at night (from 12:30 to 2:30 AM one of the nights). No staff member emerged from their room to control these folks.
