The hostel was a little hard to get to in the off-season when the shuttle to SurfSide isn't running yet but otherwise it was a good place to stay, mainly because of it's vicinity to the great beach at SurfSide. The staff were also helpful - particularly Cindy who was also very personable.

This is the only cheap place to stay in Nantucket and has a great location on the beach. Its easy to get to by public transport and the staff are all really helpful

Ronn, the manager, was great. The place has improved drastically since our last stay several years ago. Definitely scope it out!

I really liked the area. There didn't really seem to be any security, but there also didn't seem to be a need for security. There were a surprising number of older people at this hostel. The location was directly across from the beach--nice place to go and sit in the evening. I heard rumors of a bonfire on the beach but was not invited to the event. The place seemed very clean. Be prepared to walk a lot, buy a shuttle pass, and use the occasional taxi. I fell in love with the place and didn't want to leave. I received the following directions to the Cisco Brewery from a driver of the shuttle: "Get off here. Walk to the left about a half a mile." The shuttles don't necessarily go everywhere you want to go at the times you want to go. It is also very dark at night with no streetlamps, so come prepared with a high strength flashlight if you plan on walking at night.

Upon check in on Friday July 13th I was told I reserved a room as a female. Which I know I did not, I have the confirmation. I stayed in an open bed in the coed dorm. It was terrible I was kept awake all night by a couple having sex and then making noise until three in the morning and repeateadly would not be quiet after I asked several times. The room was suppossed to be empty as my friend had reserved all 5 beds and then couldnt show because of a death in his family. The Hostel either rebooked the beds or these people snuck down. The staff was zero help. I want my money back I didnt end up staying Saturday night. Luckily a friend took me in. Who do I contact regarding a refund?

To be honest Im probably too old to sleep with 25 other women! :-) The bathroom was ok. I didnt stand in line once. The location was not a surprice and there was a bus in the day time - a positive surprice because it didnt say that in lonely planet. I loved that I was able to sit on the beach after a five minutes walk!

A small altercation between 2 room mates occured. Apparently they've been sharing the room for a while and both had valid arguments. One guy said a prejudice generakization statement, the other was inconsiderate one night--while talking to his girlfriend. Management sorted out the argument after the prejudice man offered to have the other party member kicked out. The inconsiderate man, earlier however, had already apologized which was nearly ignored by the prejudice man. Management did a great job is sorting out it was a good atmosphere, for all people alike. After the prejudice man left for a few hours, sleeping time happened with all of the Irish Clients, Caddies and a Film Festival organizer. Over all, the experience was nice because we all talked to one another respectfully.
