Cleaning is a must even in a jail. The kitchen floor is gross. It\'s a kitchen. Bathrooms on the 6th floor need some TLC. The German interns are very nice and hard working. The free tour was very nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to everyone. We have friends that cannot wait to see our photos. BTW I think I captured a picture of a ghost outside the building when I took a picture of it at night. SPOOKY, SCARY!!! Thanks for a good time. Ronald, from Philippines ~ 22nd Nov 2009

We stayed here for one night and really enjoyed our stay. The atmosphere is great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who would likes to be a little spooked since there really are bars on the door. The location is very convenient, only a short walk to the Market, which is perfect for a night out. Also the staff was very helpful in picking out restaurants and nightclubs. Thanks! Noisy, bathrooms are not really clean, a multitude of little hidden costs not explained on the booking web site make it very expensive for a single person - I checked out after one night and found a motel with better facilities for a lower price. Michael, from Canada ~ 12th Nov 2009

The whole jail idea is really cool (though scary a bit), you will never forget this. I met some amazing people. Some showers are bad (but lucky I found one that is good). Definetly 5 points for character. It's very unique hostel. I've never slept in jail before. It's intresting and unusual experience. The staff wasn't bad. It was also preety clean. Despite this, there are not free lockers ($1 every door close) and tour around hostel (jail) it's very expensive ($9). Anyway, Jail Hostel is nice place to stay. Michal, from Poland ~ 16th Sep 2009

IMPORTANT: you will be charged more (here in advance and online) than going directly there and taking the room. That took me 4-5 times talking to different staff to figure out (that was most annoying). Also you have to pay everytime you use a locker and it's quite noisy due to a ventilation system.
