We booked our rooom a week before by internet and the day of our departure ( I traveled with a child) my husband phoned to confirm the reservation.
We were shocked when we arrived and our room was given to someone else. The concierge was rude & sarcastic and some time after we were given a dirty room with six beds (we reserved one with 2 beds). It was only for the 2nd night that we got a room which we reserved. After that first day, things became better & the concierge was very pleasant. In sum

Great place, stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm so wasn't in a cell, room was huge, air-conditioned, cleaned each day, beds were new and large (6'4" and i fitted easily). Close to supermarket etc, and just a good place to stay, social atmosphere less interactive, not any hostel activities, but they seem to all be that way in Canada.

Loved the hostel, it was very clean, and the beds were spacious. Great hostel overall, Very cheap internet ($3/24hr), great lounge, individual lockers in fridge and close to a supermarket and grog shop. Thumbs up

What can I say other than...awesome. This hostel is one of a kind. I've been in a ton of hostels and none were as unique as this one...i mean really..an old jail..pretty cool. It has a group area to chill, cheap internet, and is centrally located. The only quams with it was a lack of AC and the fact the staff looked like they could not wait for their shift to end...overall, i'd go here again in a heart beat!

This is an unusual place. It's nice for one or maximum two nights, I wouldn't recommend it if you are expecting too much. The location is good. There is a lot of noise, especially at night 'cause the beds are old and made of iron. The cells are hot due a poor ventilation. The staff is nice and they try to help you.
