  • they had works going on for all my stay, I mean construction. I have been woken every day to the noise workers were making. I mean if they really have to do that , maybe they should have considered closing it or at least emptying the part where construction was taking place. The stuff is helpful but they are not really nice. rooms smell as the smell of humidity. I don't really recommend it. It is not worth the money I paid.

  • Staff were always cheerful, helpful and ready to offer advice, information and recommendations. The hostel itself is old but has been well maintained, the common room is huge with a big open gas fireplace in the middle of one area, so nice to sit by after a windy day wandering the Embarcadero. The breakfast was adequate, not as great as at some hostels, but the downstairs self catering facilities were excellent. There is a nice theater with a big screen TV downstairs where they show movies.

  • Staff were the friendliest I've come across in any hostel at which I've stayed. Location is incomparable to anywhere else in San Francisco. Juke box is a great touch. Not enough washing machines however when one is broken.

  • Loved staying here - very close to public transit and the surrounding areas were stunning. If you want to be downtown most of the time I would recommend staying at the downtown hostel but I found it was worth the trek for a trip based mostly on food and being near the bridge and water!

  • It had been years since I have stayed in a hostel. I thought I was too old. Not at all. There were people of all ages. I shared a Quad room with two young women. One kept entirely to herself. The other was friendly and we had breakfast together. The common area was lively but most people were absorbed in their laptops. The bar/caffe was quite lovely but I did feel a bit old in there. Bed was comfortable. Nice view of Alcatraz from our room. Easy beautiful walk along the shore to the Golden Gate.

  • This was the second time we stayed at this Hostel. Great location and wonderful staff. We signed up for me Mission District Tour and out tour guide was wonderful (young lady with dark long hair) She was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We defiantly will return to this Hostel. WE had a group of 4 from age 18 to 60!
