Hmmm, not a bad hostel, although a bit out of town if thats what you are looking for, but it does have a nice location near the beach and the staff are helpful. The dorms are OK, although I think that they could maybe have a dust of the floors in there! Lockers are provided though and they put on a great BBQ when I was there too. If you want somehwhere to relax its for you, but say you just have a few days in town, Id advise the HI Central.

great staff. as others have mentioned, location is not one of it's strong points, though the beach is right there, nothing else is. if you're looking to party, go to one of the other hostels downtown. this is a place to relax.

This is a really great hostel. The food is lovely, big lockers for your possessions and sports equipment that can be used by hostelers are among the best parts. The hostel is not close to shops etc but that is actually a good thing. The beach is only about a 2mins walk and everything is so laid back. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone intending to visit this city. Only negative point is that you have to pay for internet usage, otherwise a Five star hostel.

The Front Desk staff was very very helpful and made my first time in a hostel very comfortable and informative. I just wish it was closer to the city center, but i knew what I was getting into when I booked the hostel.

Bit out of the way, though lots of 004 buses running from Howe St (Downtown). Also good windsurf school nearby on beach. Supermarket couple of blocks away on Alba St. Ideal for parking up for a few $ per day. Wide range of age groups from very young to very old. the TV room is kinda hidden away at the back of the kitchen (have to push open what looks like an exit door). Good facilities on site, and good hearty breakfast for about $6.50.
