There is no real security at the front desk other than asking what room you are in. No activities are planned there which is sad because the location is excellent! Lisa, from USA ~ 14th Oct 2009

I want to thank you for making my stay in Victoria a memorable and enjoyable experience. I have stayed at only one other hostel and was really disappointed. What a great experience this stay was. The staff was so helpful in directions, getting airport shuttles, and in giving general information. If I am every in Victoria again I will definately stay again. Kudos to you! I've stayed at the Victoria Hostel on four separate occations and have been very satisified with the service and hospitality at this establishment. The staff has always been very friendly and quick to provide service and information. My only criticism is that, in my opinion, Hostel International should require thier employees to adhere to basic standards of appearance and personal hygene. Front Desk Staff were friendly and helpful. Hostel was clean but the third floor corridor carpet did need cleaning. Hostel is in a good location. No free breakfast but free wireless Internet a big plus. I enjoyed my stay and would book again. Someone did remove my top sheet off my bed after I got up in the morning. Will its in a good location and the staff are good - but the rooms are dumb as, cos they're like massive with heaps of ppl, really hard to sleep. And the mix of people is weird from school kids to like grandads haha. But its all right i guess... Luke, from New Zealand ~ 8th Jun 2009

Overall a good facility. I am not particular, my needs are few and the hostel adequately met them. Good points are: heritage building and central location. By comparison, some of the major city hostels in Europe (well, Italy anyway) are well out in the sticks. For your reference, the Pioneer Hostel in Prince Rupert is the one against which i judge all others - the best i've seen yet! Anthony, from Canada ~ 28th Mar 2009
