“ I was thoroughly impressed by the service that everyone provided. The free coffee isn't exactly starbucks but there's one right around the corner, along with an awesome irish pub. Next door is the 24hr Cafe Mason that was frequented by us after a late night of partying. Stayed in San Fran for a conference at the Moscone Center and the walk is easy. Especially with the San Fran weather. If visiting you must try Katanayaa Noodles right around the next corner too. We Had a blast! ”

“ Very nice and helpful staff, nice room (we had a private room) and a nice breakfast included! The hostel was a great "headquarters" for our stay in San Francisco, and it felt like a safe place to come back to in the evenings. Next time in SF, I'll stay there again! ”

“ I had intended to stay three nights at the hostel, while my daughter was staying two. I was told by one man (a man with dark hair,very nice) to renew my room pass when my daughter checked out. On 8/4/12, I asked the redheaded man at the desk to renew my pass. He refused, saying it would work until 11 am and I could come back later. My sister and I decided to check out, bringing our sheets and towels to the desk. The same man rudely dismissed us without ceremony. The cream for coffee was sour. ”

“ My roommate and I greatly enjoyed our stay. I was nervous about the cleanliness - our room smelled lightly of mildew and I know that the staff cleans the sheets and pillowcases after each stay, but I'm not sure about the comforter... Nonetheless, the place was super cheap and cool, had our own private room that looked like a dorm room. We felt safe in the neighborhood and loved the location. Kinda bummed that people didn't hang out more... most people just talked to those they knew :( ”

“ The location and the staff make the HI SF a great hostel! The bedrooms have lockers, the breakfast is great (bagels, cream cheese, jam, coffe, milk, apple), they have tours (we joined the bike tour and it was great!). The wi-fi works and they have paid internet if u dont have a computer. I would stay there again for sure! ”

“ Very nice hostel. First hostel I stayed in where my four bedroom dorm had its own bathroom. It is in the heart of downtown San Francisco so the nights can be very nosy and it is difficult to sleep in. But otherwise, it is very clean and the staff is great. ”

“ This is a good place to stay if you are traveling alone and want somewhere safe and clean. However, it is not the sort of hostel where you meet lots of people as it is big and most people kept themselves to themselves. ”

“ This is an excellent hostel. It is well run, safe and clean. As a senior traveler I was treated warmly and felt very comfortable. I would have liked to have seen a bit more variety at breakfast, but the beagles were good. It's location in downtown SF is perfect, close to all transportation and walking distance to literally hundreds of places to eat. ”
