  • The toilets should be cleaned more frequently. The location was great - very beautiful view, and because of the breakfast it was good value for money.

  • We've stayed here twice and we love the location as well as Cafe Franco! Great coffee and breakfast in the morning. It sucks they don't have private rooms like some hostels with a private bathroom. The bathrooms are all shared and are not the cleanist. Wish they just cleaned the place a little better to be more inviting and smell nice. But we have a great time when we stay in this location! You can see the Golden Gate and waterfront from it and there's a Safeway supermarket down the street.

  • The location is on a hill that is close to the touristic areas of the pier. So it wasn't good to get a true feel of the city. But it was a great place to be based for a short stay where the attractions are all that are important. My only complaints are: not enough shower facilities for the large dorms and that wifi doesn't work in all the buildings.

  • I like this hostel. They offer everything we need. Clean, friendly staff, nice breakfast. I thought the hostel is located very closely to Fisherman's Wharf. But it wasn't that close if you go there by walking. I was scared when I came back to hostel in the evening. But I like this hostel!

  • such a dirty bath room... I stayed in 8 female dorm and the room smelled so badly and so wet. However my friend stayed in 6 female room which was much better in terms of cleaness and atmosphere. just okay for location (not right in the center of SF, really good view from the backyard and 10min walk to ghiradelli square!)

  • BEAUTIFUL location if you want to be by the beach and in a park. Not so convenient for the city centre, but still do-able with busses. Great communal kitchen and communal living area, which really made the stay. Staff were all lovely apart from one older man in the cafe who was extremely rude and unpleasant. The rest were all very helpful. Shared bathrooms got a little annoying, and the breakfast choice was poor (compared to HI City Center, for example).

  • Three night stay. Nice with the free breakfast and free wifi. Had a doubble private room, and it was not very clean, might got some bedbug bites.. But all in all a good stay if you dont have the highest standars. Very nice commond area and very helpful staff (Helps us with our stay in SanFran and our trip to Yosemite) Best sourundings in the city and easy access to metro bus and the cabel cart!

  • Unclean bathrooms with little or no amenities or useful facilities. Shower barely was able to produce hot water and that was after 10 minutes of fiddling with it..... not clean on top of that. Staff was very nice though.

  • The rooms were crowded and they put too many people in some. There weren't enough outlets and the staff was not very accommodating for bed changes. They also weren't knowledgeable about things around town and the breakfast really sucked! There were middle school groups staying there and when they were loud late at night, the staff did nothing to keep them quiet. I would stay at the downtown location before this one if I go back.

  • Location is awesome 5min walk from Pier 39 and you can see Alcatraz and the Golden Bay Bridge from the Hostel. Very nice place but try to avoid the big Dorm you wont get any sleep at all. Stick to the 6 person Dorm they are good value for money. The Kitchenplace is just perfect plenty of space for your own food, even a deep freezer and enough gas stoves and kitchen stuff for everbody to cook. Nice lounge area aswell. I like this place and ive benn now to more then 30 Hostels worldwide.

  • Unfortunately, someone in our room set their alarm for 4:30 am then hit snooze for 20 minutes later. It was incredibly loud and intrusive. Hope that doesn't happen often. LMD
