  • While it is a bit of a walk from the street car, it is more than worth the initial walk. It has a nice view of the bay from large windows and I quite enjoyed chatting and hanging out with Ronin. The best part of the location is how close it is to one of the hiking trails for Hakodateyama where you get amazing views of the entire city, and in the other direction, depending on the weather, you can see Honshu. I very much enjoyed my stay and will likely return the next time I visit Japan.

  • The owner/manager of this guest house is one of the nicest people I've ever met. He could not have gone out of his way for me more, driving me places without making me feel uncomfortable whatsoever. Whomever I spoke to felt the same way. When I return I will stay here. I traveled all over Japan and nowhere was the room view nicer than in this place. The rooms are Japanese style with tatami mats. But the bathrooms are Western with locks on the door for private use and ditto for the restroom.

Lovely lovely house! 2) Absolutely beautiful sceneries from the hill of Mt. Hakodate. The rooms, and the living room, had the best view ever! 3) The rooms are clean; the bathtubs are big for 3 people on both 1st and 2nd floors. 4) Some uphill walks from a city-trolly station. 5) Like I said, the owner loves antique stuff - there's one
