This hostel was not a working hostel...so my deposit that was made online was NOT RETURNED-And my travel companions and I did NOT HAVE A PLACE TO SLEEP that night!!!!!!! I am very disappointed with this transaction and hostels.com.
Actually the Guesthouse doesn't seem to exist anymore, the remainings didn't seem to be informed of my booking and so there wasn't the room, i got a confirmed booking for! The Bong Guesthouse just one floor above was very kind and helped as out with a nice room!

The host is friendly and helpful It's located in the heart of Seoul a few minutes walk from the subway. However it's a small place that feels a little dirty.

This hostel is currenlty undergoing some management issues, however they were very freindly and welcoming.

It's really convenience to meet friends. and it's a best place to stay in really cheap price around the place there. Even though doesn't take the subway, around the negbourhood there's lots of things to eat and drink with souvenior, too. and i've met lots of good friends there. I'm highly recommended to stay in this place!

Unfortunately, my stay at Happy Road Guesthouse was not so happy. The room was not clean, and the owner was very disorganized. He did not have any record of our booking, and he didn't give us back our change for payment. It is a flat where the bedroom is the hostel, and he sleeps with his mom in the living room/reception. The walls are thin and conversations from the living room make it into the dorm room. He was not very helpful in that he would not let us use the laundry since he said that we must stay at least three nights to use it. We offered to pay for it, and he still said no. We found a much better guesthouse nearby and gave it a perfect score.
Great value, great location. Small. English-speaking manager/owner out when I arrived, and his mother speaks no English. Not a big problem, as one can call the manager on the phone upon arrival to "check-in." Nothing fancy. Hard to "chill" there unless you want to sit next to the mother in the living room watching Korean TV. (Interesting experience, though.) Anyway, I was usually out exploring. Free internet. 24 hours hostel access, but I felt like I was disturbing folks coming back late (no late-night shower, as a result.) I always took my valuables with me - no safe?/front door always open. Manager friendly - shared Korean dinner with all of us! This place was perfect for me (I'd go back to this place if I return to Seoul), and maybe for you...

I do not recommend this place, unless budget is your #1 concern and you don't plan on spending any time there other than sleeping. This place was listed as having a 24-hour reception, which was one of the reasons we booked it as we were arriving at 3am. When we got there, however, all the lights were off and there was an elderly couple asleep in the front room. We felt totally uncomfortable as we woke the old woman and the front desk guy up. Also, the front desk guy apparently had no idea we were coming, as he put us in a different room than we had booked (8 bed instead of 4 bed), then he not only tried charging us the higher 4 bed rate, but also tried denying that we had already paid a 10% deposit.

it's in an phantastic area. Verry close to plenty of night clubs and cultural highlights. But securety is easy to describe: Lock your case, take all your expensive stuff with you - all doors are open 24/7 - no chance to lock things! We've had no loose and know of none but anything's possible in the heart of a 10 Mil.City,...
