  • Pleased in every way. Front desk personnel were courteous and efficient. Room was clean and comfortable. Floor (I stayed on the 7th Floor) was sparklingly clean. Free voucher for breakfast at a nearby cafe; the meal served as breakfast and lunch for me I was pleasantly surprised. The experience made me start thinking about looking into the activities of the Y.

  • It's a humble place. Think that you get a good kick for the buck. Don't go if you want a lot of confort. Yu will hear many stories about Harlem. Don't pay much attention to them. I lived in NY for two years some years ago and I can say that at least this specific area of Harlem is totally safe. I've been in that neighborhood many times.

  • Too noisy in the early morning (room cleaning), few toilets (you have to wait your turn), too small room. But in any way it is enough for its money and suitable to spent some days in NY.

  • I stayed at the Harlem YMCA for 3 nights. I never had any issues with a bathroom being free and besides our radiator occasionally making a weird clunking noise, it was a quiet and uneventful stay. Our floor was shared by mainly international families vacationing to see the city so I think all of us were primarily there to sleep. The staff were friendly, everything was clean (just remember to bring shower shoes) and the proximity to the metro give me no doubt that I would stay here again.

  • In the site Hostel it says breakfast included but it's not true. You have only one Breakfast voucher the first day to have a breakfast menu on a restaurant. The days after you have to pay. Among the menu you can choose there are pancakes, eggs, biscuits. Don't forget to bring swim wear and swim carpet to have a good profit of the swiming pool, and also the sauna.

  • Staff were friendly and efficient in checking-in, and provided all information that we asked. However, the room was extremely small, cramped, looked old and in serious need of renovation. Parking were available by the streets though it may be hard to find lots. I would consider it value-for-money and just a place to crash for the night. Nothing more than that.

  • We were very happy to see all the sports facilities (swimming pool, work out spaces and basekt ball gym) which the hostel proposes for free for its clients. They are in a very good condition and the ambiance is very cheerful. Unfortunately, the facilities just like the bathrooms on each floor are not adapted to the great number of rooms. Particulary for the girls, there is only one toilet which is in the same room as the unique show for girls.

  • If you keep in mind that you´re going to a hostel and not to a hotel the place is very good. The bathrooms weren´t clean all the time but the staff is great and although it´s far away from downtown, it is conveniently located 3 minutes away from the subway station.

  • This hostel was in area where transportation was good, there were 2 and 3 subway line. The atmosphere inside was good and safe. If I have to go NYC, I will pick this one again.

  • We booked a double-room and got a very tiny room with a bunk-bed on the 11th floor. There was only 1 shower-toilet-bathroom for girls on the whole floor and it was constantly occupied. Not very clean rooms and shared areas. Actually the staff was very friendly, location is pretty good. And I guess there's the best place for this price in NY. For ex, in Paris we got MUCH better room for the same price. So,if you're looking for the cheapest room, that's a valuable choice. If not, find smth better

  • harlem used to be a dangerous zone in new york. however, it changed a lot recently. so it is almost perfect safe in whole day. plus, I was told not to walk out in the midnight by the staff there. then I guess it will be a little dangerous in the dark night. and the room is pretty small to those who used to live in the big room. If you came from China, and you will find it is similar to the students dormitory. ps, only 7, 11 floor has shower. and it's 3 mins walk away from the subway 3.

  • Decent location, friendly staff and very much value for money. A bit more precise description of the twin-bed rooms would be suitable, otherwise I'm very satisfied with Harlem YMCA.
