It was just what I wanted - a bit further out from the centre of the cool Eastern area Prenzlauberg but I thought it was perfect. Safe feeling, quiet and easy to get to. Nice ping pong table!

I absolutely loved this hostel. Although it was outside the city, it is only about a 3-5 minute walk to the metro. The only downside is that Antonplatz, the metro station you go to is not on some maps so it can be hard to find from the airport. Just go to Alexanderplatz from Schoenefeld and you are fine.

LOCATION is only half way, DEPENDING on what works for u. So it is possible to think it is it is slightly out of the way, but one can quite efficeintly get to Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg. However if u like a former East Berlin neighbourhood then this is the area u want to be in.
Ole, the manager is a super guy.

Great small hostel in a quiet area of East Berlin (the best part). Run by an archaeologist called Ole - really interesting, cool guy. Only one bar and restaurant in local area but both really good. Fab bakery down the street from the hostel too. Not the place to stay if you want to be surrounded by noisy party people but perfect chilled out place to return to after a heavy night. Recommended.

The staff was very helpful and flexible---relaxed in a good way. We enjoyed a winter visit---but we also thought that the patio environment would be a great place to relax and hang out in warmer weather.

Was a bit daunting to get there, but close to everything we wanted to do in Berlin. Ole was charming and hospitable. He did more than he had to for us. The cottage is delightful and comfortable. Close to nice restaurant.

The East German part does not look like the West, lots more graffitti, but it was just as safe and the prices for the shops and restaurants were 50% of what it cost in the city.
