Although we paid a deposit when we arrived all they had left was a more expensive room. We chose the hostel for the free Wi-Fi but the manager told us he couldn't give us the password until the next day (24 hr reception advertised). We were unable to use the 1, slow computer after waiting ~5hrs. The advertised common room was being used as a dorm & the kitchen had nowhere to prepare food, no hotplate or stove for cooking, not enough cups, or utensils & the only sink in the bathroom.

I´m still very angry about the Home-from-Home-Hostel! On arriving at the hostel, the first sentence that this man said, was: All rooms are full! Although correct booking confirmation through Hostelworld.com.Some other tourists were also affected. fault: the bad administration of the rooms by the hostel. There was no excuse(!), we didn´t get back this booking deposit of around 21 €.

The hostel is well located and most of the staff are friendly and helpful. However, this is no ordinary hostel. When we first arrived we thought it had only been partially constructed, as the amount of labourers exceeded the amount of guests. Though this was not actually the case, the hostel had been running for a couple of years. This was no refurbishment, something more sinister was afoot, this was the site of a bizarre game, which i still do not fully understand. A striking slavic woman was ordering around anywhere between 3 and 6 men, or lackeys. These people were constantly busy, but as time went on it became ever more apparent that they were busy doing nothing. A floor would be ripped up, and an equally shit one used to replaced it, constant trips to a secret cupboard would yield little in the way of materials or equipment. This explains why the hostel looked like a crack den and has done for 2 years despite all the hard work. My advice if you have booked this place is to drink a lot because you may need the anesthetic.

They do not accept payments by the creditcard. This should be indicated on the web when booking as it brings some complications.

this was a terrible hostel - lost reservations, not at all clean, and the key to the "dorm" did not work. Truly an awful experience.

Chances are you won\'t be staying in the type of room you booked, we ended up in a 7-bed yet we booked a 4-bed. Shower broke, and the door sensor didn\'t work properly. Best thing is location of the hostel, just a 30 minute walk to the actual city centre (Kremlin, Red Square etc).

conditin of hostel i found poor, but as here for champis league final and hotels at $500 a night i didn\'t expect much for $30. location ideal, all in all no complaints. Ivan the manager or person at hostel 100 out of 100. i myself work in 4star hotels and wouldn\'t hesitate to employ Ivan.
If your in Moscow for a couple of days and prepared to rough it, 2 toilets, 3 showers for 25 people, paper thin walls then yes. After speaking to other travellers there hostel was pretty much the same. The location is great, 15-20min walk to Red Square and Kremlin. Ivan who runs the hostel is lovely and very helpful. The hostel grows on your after a while and for a couple of nights its bearable. Point of warning this hostel over books so your best to get there early to secure your bed, or email and phone.
AWFUL. DO NOT STAY HERE. The worst hostel I have ever seen and I've travelled from Beijing to Berlin, Quito to Hanoi!!! ABSOLUTE DIVE!!! The photos do not reflect the actual appearance of this hovel. We booked through this website and when we arrived there were no staff on site, guests were having to answer the door, they couldn't leave as the hostel didn't give out keys, it was on a slum of a stair, it was filthy, over crowded, the toilet was smashed, random people were crashed on the sofas due to over crowding, beds were packed into the rooms so tightly that the doors were blocked - pathetic Russian excuse to rip off travellers and other Russians who use it as a guest house. It is a firetrap, a rip-off and very Russian. Wwe left and thankfully found a gem of a hostel: Stay at Home Hostel along Arbat - brilliant and a standard that hostels should aim for. AVOID Home from Home LIKE THE PLAGUE - if you do stay there you might catch something!!
Feb 2008 GOOD: Staff are fun/helpful. There seems to be an inverse relationship between cleanliness & level of fun/camaraderie in many hostels-here too. Location is cool. BAD: facilities/cleanliness poor. Worst are old/worn/tattered mattresses-no sheets supplied. Very cramped/crowded apt. 2 toilets for all guests. Get breakfast early-it runs out! Is it normal for babies to stay in hostels? Its not pleasant told at 11pm to keep it down as a baby is trying to get to sleep! Booking mix-ups!
