Hong Guesthouse in Seoul, South Korea

Be advised this is a GUEST HOUSE, not a youth hostel. It is a more proper setting and older people stay here. I stayed a couple days and everything was fine. However, some of the guests was a whole family complete with 4-5 children. If you are young and want people closer to your type, this may not be the best choice. Joshua, from USA ~ 6th Nov 2009

the worst hostel I ever stayed [didn't stay] in. We booked a 4 bed dorm and were given an 8 bed dorm which was right outside the reception area and had paper thin walls. The room was FILLED with mosquitos just waiting for us on the ceiling. We couldn't sleep and left at 2 am to find a love motel for double the price but so worth it.

I'm very sorry that you didn't enjoy the stay. You did book 8 bed dorm and we don't have 4 bed dorm as you can see on the list. Someone left the windows open and mosquitos tried to come in as the temperature inside is warmer. Now we made sure there is no mosquitos in the rooms

Good area-just down the street from lots of clubs, bars, restaurants and shopping- about 30 min from city hall by subway- but cabs are so cheap, why not?! Enjoyed the stay- and was relived to have a nice place to look forward to return to at the end of tiring days. Jamie, from USA ~ 22nd Sep 2009

This is a great place to stay. Located near the nightlife district but not too close, in a quiet side street. The Canadian-Korean owner Shawn and his employee Hong are very polite and helpful. I stayed in the 8-bed dorm and in the single room and actually prefer the dorm given the price difference because the single room is in the basement and has a noisy ventilator in front of the smallish window.
