We were really happy with this accomodation, it was clean and very central. Only problem was the window out into the lift shaft, because the lift went up and down all night and kept us wide awake. But then we saw inside someone else's room- it was so nice! And ours was so yuck by comparison. A nice place to stay, but be prepared to get a much worse room than others who pay the same price- not a very fair system!

Overall an excellent Hostel. This place is more like a hotel than a hostel, with newly renovated rooms and bathrooms. Everything was immaculately clean and modern. The staff was very helpful. Great location near nice food, great bars, and many of the cities museums and other sites. Very reasonable prices, and you are not required to stay a minimum number of nights. I would definitely return, and highly recommend this hostel to any visitor.

The location was wonderful as it was right in the center of everything. The people were very helpful and you felt very safe in the hostal.

The hostel is on the 5th floor. Until you really get inside the hostel, you will probably get a wrong idea as the ground floor lobby and the entrance are very narrow and a bit durty.
However, inside the hostel everything is very atractive and very ok. Just don't get the rooms closer to the inside lobby because they can be noisy.
the location is just the centre of Madrid.

The room I stayed in was very clean, modestly furnished but VERY small. I could barely turn around in there. I looked at the fire escape map and saw that I happened to be in the smallest room on that side of the apartment, so I guess the other rooms are bigger, but I felt very claustrophobic in that room.

Lovely room, very clean & small but good bathroom. Very secure and surprisingly quiet. One thing - the airconditioner was very effective but smelled a bit funny!

Hostal Astoria was very clean, very comfortable, and located in a prime spot. It is situated on a quiet street right next to Madrid´s central nightlife distict-- around the Plaza del Sol. The hostal´s location makes up for what it lacks in social atmosphere.
Overall, Astoria was a great experience.
