We found this to be an excellent base from which to do side trips from Quito. The staff are great - Gloria was so helpful and friendly and really looked after us. The only downside is that it´s a 10-15 minute walk from the main restaurants area in the new town, but there is a good restaurant in the hotel. I would highly recommend this as a base for your trip to Ecuador.

It is a very quaint place to stay when you are in Quito. I wish I stayed at the Hostal Santa Barbara for my entire trip. The architecture and grounds are extraordinary. All the staff are friendly and helpful and make you feel right at home. The restaurant on site is also another reason to stay. I would recommend it to everyone.

The location is about a $2 taxi trip to the Plaza de la Indenpendencia and about a $4 taxi trip from the airport. It is a very nice place to stay but the street can be a little noisy in the early mornings. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Stayed here twice and felt like coming home the second time.
This hostel is absolutely perfect. Lots of character, very clean, close to the historic Quito. The staff is excellent and very helpful. The only little complaint is the breakfast. The exact same 2 eggs and toast every day. Overall. 10 out of 10 compare to other hostals we saw.

Charming atmosphere and excellent staff made our stay most enjoyable. We ate several meals at the hostal restaurant. The food and service were exellent. We would highly recommend Hostal Santa Barbara in Quito for your stay while visiting the city.
