Hotel 89 definetly doesn't exist!!! It was nothing else than Esplanade accommodation. About it, great location and good cheap price, for the rest I was in much better hostels than this one!

Great Hostel. Great Location. Very clean rooms and kitchen area. Very friendly staff....... We would appreciate it if smoking was done outside the hostel quarters instead of near the pool area. Other than that, a excellent hostel!
no problems here, god spot, nice clean place, and no problems from the other backpackers, ie noise. all good!

the nicest receptionists I ever had in Australia; some strange backpackers who check to see whether you've left your room unlocked (which unfortunately CAN happen with those doors...)

A good Lodge with a very good situation on The Esplanade. A good organisation and a recieve much information on the town.
this hostel was fantastic in terms of location but was severely let down by one of the female reception staff. On arrival before even handing over the keys and finishing payment she proceeded to grill us about a trip we had booked on-line before our arrival - with the sole intention of scaring us into cancelling this trip and booking with them. this was completely innappropriate and not very professional. we were appalled this lady was working in the tourism industry and felt she really let down what could be a fab budget hostel. I would strongly advise potential customers to avoid this hostel at all costs if you wish to enjoy your trip. We actually had a fab time in cairns in the hostel next door!
Excellent service by the staff on booking our trips. Also, the ability to check in and out when needed according to overnight trips was awesome.
