  • LOVE this hostel! Stayed here twice when I flew in and out of San Jose and have nothing but good things to say. The hostel is beautiful and filled with character and old world charm and is located just a short walk from many stores, banks, restaurants, etc. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff was very knowledgable. Would highly recommend staying here if visiting San Jose.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed here on our last night in Costa Rica and had a terrible experience. We have both done a lot of traveling and know what a basic, budget hostel consists of but this place is just gross. I booked it because most of the other reviews were positive and I have no idea why. The room we were given reeked of B.O. and I don't think the bed had been cleaned in weeks. There was also a concert held here that threw any sense of safety out the window..drugs, etc..DO NOT STAY HERE

  • Terrific staff, fairly good dorms. And gated security will help you keep a peace of mind. Purchase your own lock for the lockers.

  • Absolutely fantastic. Casa Del Parque is clean, convenient, and hospitable to the Nth degree. Roger is very knowledgable about anything you might ask about San Jose, as well as the surrounding country. All other staff members are great as well. The kitchen is well maintained, the bathrooms meticulously cleaned, and the rooms (including the dorm) are more than taken care of. Simply put: the best hostel I've stayed at in Costa Rica. Don't even think about it, book it. It should have a %100 rating.

  • Thank you for being the best hostel in San Jose. The architectural beauty of the historic part of the city is grand; this home at the park puts you right in the middle of where you need to be in San Jose. The small staff is wonderful and inviting, introducing us to the homeowner and engaging us like old friends. We were surprised and delighted by the cafe serving local, organic food! You allowed us to truly enjoy San Jose. Thank you.

  • Thank you so much Roger for all the help to plan our Tortuguero, one night stay and show us around. All of you that help us from the owner to the German couple and Alyssia Muchas Griacas!

  • Good location in San Jose. Great staff that treats you like family (ran into the owner, Frederico, and his father randomly in a cafe in central SJ and we sat and chatted for a good while - great conversation). Laid-back vibe. Definitely not a party hostel (which was all good to me), but there's a lovely courtyard where you can chat over beers with fellow guests.

  • Although this hostel has way more pros than cons (the location, security, price and staff are great), the heating system for the shower is very unsafe and both bathrooms could still look much better.

  • Antibacterial liqiud soap was missing in the bathroom, therefore 3/5 for cleaniness. Hostel was clean otherwise.

  • Good atmosphere, nice garden. The private double, while spacious, needs some work -- the light switch is outside the room, and the baseboards are falling apart. This room adjoins the main entryway, which has a loudly buzzing door, so you can hear the comings and goings of other guests along with the ubiquitous San Jose traffic noise. The bathroom is separate, and shared with all the other guests. That's fine, but you have to walk upstairs and THROUGH the dorm to get to the showers.

  • An absolutely welcoming and nice hostel. They have some great common areas, blazing fast wifi, and a terrific bilingual staff. We could not have asked for a better stay.

  • I stayed in Hostel Casa del Parque for about 2 weeks. It is quiet, secure, and convenient. I highly recommend it. Also, try the restaurant (Jardin Café) out front. The cappuccino, and carbonara sandwich are outstanding.
