the hostel was quite different than it looked on its site, which made it look quite good.

Not a great place to stay at all, apart from the location - behind the bus terminal and close to town. It's basic accom if you have no other options, so don't expect anything more. Staff quite unhelpful, the bathrooms reeked of urine, no lockers, breakfast not included and cost 10 pesos for a few burnt slices of toast and jam. No atmosphere or area to congregate and meet other travellers. Not recommended.

Most hostels claim to be, but Hogar al Sur really was a home away from home! First hostel that really felt like home after travelling for over three months...small, informal, great owner, great bathrooms, even better kitchen! We will be coming back to BA and will definitely stay in Hogar el Sur. Hopefully it is not fully booked by then :-)

It was nice, and about a 10 minute walk from the subte station, but there weren't too many foreigners staying when I was there. Everyone seemed to have lived there for a while. It lacked the excitement of a well trafficked hostel.

We had a lovely stay. No problems whatsoever and the place was nice.

We would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone!! It was always clean and tidy, about 10mins walk from the underground metro in to town, and the staff were lovely - so helpful and very caring. There was also unlimited Internet access, which was a massive bonus. Very cheap too! Good facilities, even though had to share a bathroom but that wasn't too much of a problem. There was nothing to do there though in terms of a 'fun' rating. We would definitelty recommend this hostel to anyone!!!
