  • I was apprehensive about staying in a hostel at first but Hostel Smith was lovely. For the little money that they charge, it is really a good deal. Located really close to the Promenade (just about 3 minutes by foot) and the tram/bus station (10 minutes) and restaurants/bars all around. The dorm was really neat and tidy, though the beds are a bit weak and squeaky. The ladder to the toilets is also a bit rickety/weak. Loos are small but clean. Breakfast is decent - coffee and toast. Helpful staff

  • when we arrived there was no explination of the hostel, such as where the bathroom and kitchen were and how to get a locker.. which were all being used by other travelers so we could not use one... we booked the 12 bed dorm and there ended up being 15 people in the room with us on fold out beds and the other room looked rather overcrowded aswell.. workers were rude and of no help with touristic information. also only one toilet for all of these people staying here. would NEVER stay here again.

  • We enjoyed it a lot! It was a calm hostel and we felt comfortable even though we stayed in the 14-bed dorm. A little bit tricky with the shower since it was the same room as one of the two toilets. But you could get un/dressed in the shower cabin. The kitchen was ok, enough stuff to make your dinner. Free computers, great! The location is really good and no lock out. We stayed an extra night because of the hostel and the cosy town!

  • I think that, after all, I had luck because I stayed with my two friends in a like of apartment apart of the main hostel. I made a booking to a bedroom with 3 beds and I stayed in this kind of apartment and it was very good compared with the other rooms I saw.

  • They didnt put their reception time in the internet, as they dont have a 24 hour reception, that is not convenient. The door of the dormitory cannot be open. At night, it is noisy but if we close the window, it will be too hot

  • First off the girl that works there sleeps in the same room with the 12 people and complains of the noise like snoring of people. Then the next day a group of British guy arrived and she asked if any of them snore where does this girl think sheis the Hilton. Next complaint, breakfast is free if you can make it in the tiny kitchen with limited silverware. They litereally just have breakfast for an hour and everyone is cramped waiting for each others bowl to wash.

  • So many interesting people work here! And they're all very friendly and helpful. The showers were pretty much always hot, bathrooms and sheets and towels very clean, and a decent breakfast. Perfect location right in the old town. Only real concern is that it is SO NOISY at night. Pretty hard to sleep through, and I sleep like a log. And I wish the lockers were bigger. But otherwise, fantastic stay! Never thought I would enjoy a whole week in a hostel but it was fantastic.

  • Location is great - right in the middle of the old part of the city, and 5 min walk to the beach (although it can be a bit loud at night). It's a pretty small hostel and the facilities are very basic. Not a lot of room for cooking and socializing if you're into that. Breakfast was free though again just the basics. Staff was friendly. Rate seemed to be about right for the area and linens were included (tho not towels).
