“ The Hostelling International - Washington DC is by far one of the best hostels in the DC area. The location is excellence, the staff were very welcoming, and the atmosphere is inviting. The hostel is very huge, super clean, offers free wifi, and by far one of the best free breakfast I ever had in a hostel. Overall, I would highly recommend the Hostelling International - Washington DC to anyone visiting the DC area. ”

“ I have stayed at hostels in many countries, as well as several in the USA, and this is easily the best hostel I have ever stayed in. John, king of breakfast, does an outstanding job of breaking down barriers and getting guests to mingle. All the personnel top notch - everyone was helpful and friendly and patient with whatever request was made of them. I loved how I requested a lower bunk, and one was reserved for me. At my age, I can't climb into the top bunk anymore. I had a great experience! ”

“ Wish I had more time here, was a nice hostel as I have come to expect with the brand. Staff were awesome, especially the kitchen staff!!! Loved it. I'm a single girl traveling alone and I always felt safe and comfortable. Great base to explore DC. ”

“ First-rate hostel, incredibly clean, near all the monuments, etc. Not in the most lively neighborhood, but near plenty of public transportation that will get you there. Breakfast is free, staff are friendly, and their common area is generally comfortable to sit in. But really, the big thing is that it's clean. ”

“ I had a nice time in HI Washington. Personnel was friendly, service was sufficient. I especially appreciated the free tours by volunteers and the personal and friendly personnel during breakfast. Major point of improvement to my opinion would be curtains and lights per bed. ”

“ There was wifi in the common areas, breakfast was sufficient, but probably because it was the summer holidays, it was really crowded. The staff was very helpful. I found it a tad expensive at USD 40 for a hostel bed with 5 other people. It was close and within walking distance to many of the museums and attractions, hence the location was really good. ”

“ After staying at another DC hostel for 4 days, I was disappointed that I hadn't booked my entire trip at HI. The linens were clean and smelled fresh. The rooms had locks, the breakfast was delicious, the staff was perfect, and the other guests were pleasant. I'm middle-aged, but that didn't seem to bother anybody. Wish I'd have been able to travel when I was young, but couldn't. My stay at HI was very enjoyable. ”
