Great location, right in the middle of town and less than a 5 minute walk from the beach!! Some of the staff is very helpful while others seem to care less. Not bad for the price

This place is a dump. Seriously, the dorm was filthy and disgusting. It may be a bit better if you get a private room. There is a new manager who was also kind of creepy. Location is good, but anywhere in Jaco is near the beach, so really don't bother. In fact, skip Jaco entirely and go to Quepos.

After booking one night for 5 people at Hotel De Haan and paying 10 dollars, I called to confirm my reservation, and they said since it was a very busy weekend they were not going to respect any reservations made over the internet, and if I wanted the room I had to deposit the rest of the money right away. At the end I couldn´t stay there and I lost my 10 for the reservation.

Pros: The location is the best thing about this place. Its just steps away from the beach and is pretty much smack dab in the center of town. I met some really cool people while staying there and the staff was really nice. There's only one computer but at least the internet is free. Cons: OK the place looks good on the outside but once in the rooms especially the dorms in the back of the pool, you will see that the walls are paper thin and even have holes between them. The worse thing is that there were Chiggers or bed bugs in the beds. Instantly I felt a ton of bites on my body. I couldn't sleep until I smothered on some deet (bug spray). I also saw some huge cockroaches and the screeching little lizards didn't help any. Besides all the critters I guess the place is decent.

We put a deposit on our credit card, paid in full when we were there, and they still charged the credit card. Horrible customer service.

the hostel has a very run down feel to it. The sheets were "clean" but still had hair on them. There was a nice pool there. Its about a 3 minute walk from the beach and has some pretty good surfing. about a block away from the main street.

The woman who let us in seemed very confused and the place was super noisy, all night long. The rooms were clean but if you're hoping to get any sleep, I would suggest staying somewhere with airconditioning, where no local kids come by knocking on doors at 3am.

Definitely for surfers. Rooms nice, but can't do anything outside after 10 pm at the hotel. big on safety, which is nice

The rooms were pretty spartan, but good for the price. Nice pool, and very helpful staff.
