- “ Clean and comfortable. Staff had limited English, but tried hard to communicate. WiFi only in the ground floor lobby and it was always filled with cigarette smoke. Breakfast (surprised that it was included) turned out to be more than expected, with coffee and hot dishes as well as the usual toast, etc. -- even had curry rice every morning. ”

- “ Sugicho is a functional, friendly hotel very centrally located, easy to find and with easy access to the subway and sights of Kyoto. The (Japanese style) room was spacious. There was even a complimentary breakfast. Cafes and a supermarket are nearby. If you didn't bring a towel you can rent one for a small fee. Sugicho would be my choice again for my next visit in Kyoto. ”

- “ Contrary to its name, this is not a "hotel" but really a hostel : don't expect the same quality of service that you would in a standard hotel. The biggest surprise was surely to pay a rent for (poor) bath towels. No cold water in the rooms neither... One very good thing though that saves it a little bit : you can enjoy high quality ryokan (Japanese style inn) meals for breakfast and dinner. This was awesome. A very simple plce with the minimum comfort that can be expected. No luxury here. ”
