Hotel Toyo is in a good part of Osaka, the staff are nice and are very helpful. Its clean and good value for money, and I recommend it to anyone looking for that. My few complaints are: the hallway is not carpet, so you can here everyone that walks past your room, my flip flops were stolen from leaving them outside the common room - but that is not the hostels fault. Some of the heaters don't work so well and there seem to be a lot of cat fights right near our room 104 all the time. Rhiannon, from Australia ~ 22nd Dec 2011

Great for the price. Stay here if you need a break from hostels or want a night to yourself. Try not to get a room near the street though.. It got a bit loud.. Jack, from Australia ~ 16th Nov 2011

The price is very cheap, but the hygiene is not very good. There are bad smell in toliet.Location is good, but we found it over an hour.Because we saw it is near Tennoji JR station in the map.But actully is near Shin-iyamiya JR station.Their kitchen & rest room is good & clean.Staff is polite & helpful. fung, from Hong Kong ~ 6th Sep 2011

Worn, but comfortable. Easily accessible from subway and JR. The staff were amazing. They helped us find a lot of cool places that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Thanks to Hotel Toyo for making my vacation a good one! Nicholas, from USA ~ 15th Aug 2011

Very, very creepy hotel. The neighborhood is sketchy, and there are homeless people all around. It is located close to some good restaurants, but I felt too unsafe at night walking to them. The directions to the hotel as listed are poor and only tell you what subway to get off, which seems markedly unhelpful. As for the hotel itself, the rooms are quite tiny and did not feature air conditioning. The common areas seemed unkempt and all the bathrooms were of questionable cleanliness. Location is a little sketchy compared to rest of Japan, but not dangerous. The actual hostel is wonderful. Great staff with good knowledge of area. Easy to make friends there. Downside is only 1 bathroom with a few stalls and 2 showers. But never had a problem. Rooms may be a bit small for some but I`m nearly 2m tall and I didn`t have a problem. Private rooms and cheap prices. Close to the subway too! Def. would stay again, and would certainly recommend to friends Fabio, from USA ~ 16th Jul 2011

I really enjoyed my stay here. I stayed for 3 nights. I was originally only going to stay for 2 but I still had a lot to see so I booked in for one more night. The area where the hostel is actually situated is not exactly one of the nicest looking. There are some dirty streets and homeless folk. But most of them are old men and just down on their luck, nothing threatning. I went out every night to the convinience store a few blocks down around 2am and never felt any danger. Granted, I`m a 1m 82c Fabio, from USA ~ 16th Jul 2011

Overall great place to stay. Really close to everything you want to see. The staff can help you decide what to do everyday and it`s packed with useful information. Super close to the train and subway so easy access getting everywhere. Really quiet at night and clean, highly recommended overall. Brittany, from Canada ~ 17th Feb 2011
