This is really a good hostel to stay ! Location is very nice in the old street of Tunxi. We saw groups of tour in front of it, so we know that the street itself is one of main places of interest there. Staffs were friendly and helpful. I met my family there after a Lijiang-Shanghai-Huangshan trip, and my family - Beijing-Shanghai-Huangshan. The staffs helped me to find my family there. Don't eat at any restaurant near to the hostel, except Dico's, as they give very high prices for foreigners ! Herman, from Indonesia ~ 30th Sep 2009

Before taking the trip to huangshan mountains, you need to check and being sure of the weather. Rain isn't good at all for sight seeing. MARION, from France ~ 21st Apr 2009

Location: make sure the taxi driver takes you to the right end of Lao Jie, if they take you to number 1, you will have a LONG walk down the road to number 266! Also, not related to the hostel directly, but if you get to the bus station and the taxi drivers try to get 35 yuan off you, ignore them and go 50m away to the entrance/exit of the bus station where the cost will be 5 - 7 yuan! I don't know about summer but in winter (or even spring) the hostel is FREEZING. I mean ARCTIC. And

The Old Street Hostel sits right on the old street :) It is easy to find, and we actually walked to it from the train station. We climbed Huang Shan, and the staff helped get us onto a shuttle bus for our trip to the mountain. Most of the staff spoke English very well, and assisted us with advice about trails on the mountain, times, good eats and transportation. The Hostel would be a fun place to stay in warmer seasons. The entire (common areas and rooms) hostel was just above freezing for o Michael, from USA ~ 3rd Jan 2009

3-bed ensuite. Nice hostel in a nice oldstreet. Good beds, sympathic staff a little noisy because of some renovations. Jean-Luc, from Switzerland ~ 25th Dec 2008

This place (the new hostel) is big with a lot of space and room. the bar and common room is excellent (it was quite empty when we were there... winter), however i could imagine it would be quite fun in peak times! rooms are clean and big. has everything you need. Note that the hostel is in Tunxi (not Huang Shan), which is a good 45mins drive! Tim, from Australia ~ 19th Jan 2009
