Hyde Park Hostel, looked much like an old Georgian building, that hasn't seen any looking after for many years, with ripped off carpenting bathroom with a big hole in the floor as drain, some showers that didn't work, no sink to wash your hands after being on the toilet and worse of all, douvets and pillow covers, yellow from never being washed. The staff sat 2+ people in the reception at all time, they could've easily done some DIY around the hostel. You can't pay by card here either. Jacob, from Denmark ~ 15th Feb 2012

We did not like staying there. A window was missing in the hallway, and the staircase looked like the carpet was pulled off, without further maintenance. It was okay for the money i guess, and there are keys, so it's safe enough. Rikke Arendt, from Denmark ~ 2nd Jan 2012

The whole place felt disgusting - there were stains on the bedding and mattresses and no sinks in the toilets. The showers were dirty. There were no carpets on most of the floors, and those floors that DID have carpets had carpet grips sticking out which were painful to walk on. There was no friendly welcome when we arrived, and the whole building felt in disrepair - the ceilings were missing in areas. I will certainly not be returning. Katy, from England ~ 4th Jan 2012

great location, the staff was a bit rude.If they spend some money cleaning it up and polishing it, it would be a class place to stay while in London... but great location, right across the park and good Daniel, from USA ~ 1st Dec 2011

The staff sort of did their job- but in particular one staff member was not giving good service- he was actually rude. I asked for directions to an address in London. I had to ask him three times before he understood what I wanted. I was in a hurry so got a bit frustrated with him. The same evening the staff member blamed my friend that I forgot to thank him and when I later returned to the hostel it was pointed out to me by the staff member that I "seemed to forget to say thanks". Beware the bedbugs! Unfriendly atmosphere. Lots and lots of stairs. Wifi charged separately. Bathrooms are functional, but not pleasant. Location is good, close to Hyde Park and NottingHill tube.
