I was staying two nights and the girl in the reception forget to tell me that I have to change my room after one night. When I returned back to the hostel from after shopping my stuff were lying in the corridor because the cleaning lady has taken them out from the room. Not very nice to find out stuff and clothes lying there... Anne-Mari, from Finland ~ 18th Aug 2011

It depends on people you meet on the room. At first sight the room is not so comfortable, but if your objective is living Barcelona and stay in the hostel only for a shower and sleeping, this is ok. Alessandro, from Italy ~ 4th Aug 2011

For a hostel, its pretty much what you would expect. Supposedly, guests are to respect others by being quiet after 10pm, but this was NOT enforced AT ALL by staff on our first night. The following night was a weeknight, which we can only assume was why it was much more tranquil. The staff performed its job, but NOTHING more. They were not especially friendly, helpful, or even seemed to really care about their guests at all. Overall I would give it a 4 out of 10 and probably never go back. The location is good. Private rooms in another building and it doesn't seem very secure. It is a bit noisy during the night, so don't forget your earplug. You have to pay for everything including wi-fi and even the luggage store for the last day. They took 15 euros deposit for keys, although it is just deposit, it is the highest key deposit I have ever seen. Evrim, from Turkey ~ 23rd May 2011

Not a hostel I'd want to spend a vast amount of time in, but then you're in the city and should be exploring anyway! Security isn't perfect as some hostels automatically give you a key to a locker, but not Ideal Youth Hostel. The front doors are pretty well locked though. The staff was friendly and helpful with my questions about getting around town & the tours. Does tend to be a little loud at times... Barcelona itself is very loud. Alexis, from Canada ~ 6th May 2011

In fact the actual hostel is based in a separate building, where it's almost impossible to figure the entrance door - no signs or visual aids whatsoever. So first you have to check in at one location (that appeared to be very time-consuming) and then move to another, and again go to their desk to check out. Besides, they settled me up there on the 5th floor, was not so easy to climb up with a heavy bag. They took a deposit of EUR 20 for the keys, which is quite unusual. Room was tiny like a cell Alexei, from Belarus ~ 18th Apr 2011
