There was a group of four of us who were staying here at the beginning and end of our safari in Kruger. The location is great - close to the airport and a shopping centre. Staff was a bit disorganized, seemed stressed and didn't know when we were coming back, even though I had booked in advance. Its a family business so you feel like you're staying in someone's house. Also, they didn't have electricity when we arrived, but that's Joburg and ESKOM for you! :)

This was an inexpensive place but towels, a wastebasket, bar of soap, drinking glass would have been nice! I guess a heater was too much to ask (I did ask and it WAS too much even to heat the bathroom just prior to a shower). I would NOT stay there again.

This has been my third time I needed to stay overnight in Joberg and my third time using In Africa Lodge... simply because when you find a convenient, friendly, safe, affordable lodging, why change? Each year I lead a team that assists in the care of orphans at a home in Malawi. This last time I travelled with a team of 5 and, due to very frustrating flight delays, missed our originally scheduled 1 night stay and instead needed to stay in Joberg the following 2 nights. When my travel agent called them to get it straightened out and see if we could spend an unexpected 2 nights there, they were happy to hear we were okay and quickly made accomodations for us for our extended stay. In fact, they were actually concerned since they did not hear from us after the plane we were supposed to be on arrived. If you are passing through Joberg and need a place to stay, I highly, highly recommend you look at In Africa Lodge. It's the place I book with first.

Gertie and Bruce were great, they went out of their way to make us feel safe and at home. The hostel is home-y and lovely. Also, they were super helpful about setting up travel arrangements for us in the future. We were only stopping through Jo-burg for the night, but we will definitely come back on our second time through! Thanks Gertie and Bruce!

Lovely homey hostel, great hosts, in suburbs but able to book transport to major attractions (or take you to shops, etc). Incredibly convenient for the airport, but a nice haven in Jo'burg as well.

Gerthie, you asked us to pray for you (i was part of the group that had gone to Mozambique) and i just wanted to let you know that we did and will continue to. And i wanted to tell you that Jesus loves you and thinks you are amazing and beautiful and wonderful!! In Him, there is all joy and all peace! Many many blessings to you and your husband and your business. If i ever go through Joberg again, which i most likely will, i will stay with you guys!

The place was great for all sorts of reasons. Very relaxing and full of information. Part of the great security was that it was away from things, but that also meant that it was a bit hard/costly to get anywhere. Also, the advert says internet access, and while we were there the account was out of money. As we had just landed in South Africa, the internet would have been very useful for our research. We really enjoyed our stay and would/did recommend it to other travelers. Cheers.
