J-Hoppers is very close to the station and all historical things 10 min by walk. Staff is very friendly, helpful and english speaking. The rooms have a really nice atmosphere. During wintertime it's quite warm, but could be warmer. Little bit Windy under the shower so you don't take a long shower. But a really good place to stay and I really recommend this hostel.

Although reception closed when we arrived the staff were very helpful and had lots of information on the local area.Beds and bedding were so comfy and the 6 bed dorms were warm and quiet with secure storage available on each floor.Kitchen with free tea & coffee, shared bathrooms and clothes washing facilities all available. They even had snow boots for us to use in the winter weather!Overall a great hostel in a beautiful town, well worth the trip.

I had the best time at this hostel. There was a great social atmosphere. I enjoyed the tour to Shirakawago to see the thatched roof buildings. Papi even sent me a photo from the tour as I didnt bring my camera. I also enjoyed the group meal. The staff were friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed the company of the other travellers. The bunks were curtained for privacy and had plenty of room to spread out my stuff. All in all, it was comfortable and pleasant.

Hostel in japanischem Stil mit großer Küche zur Selbstverpflegung, (freier Kaffee, Tee usw..) ordentliche Zimmer und auch alles Weitere ist in Ordnung. Hilfsbereites junges Personal. Sehr gute Lage. Leider nur Duschen im Erdgeschoss. Zu Empfehlen!! Andreas, from Germany ~ 29th Jul 2011
