The most unusual place I ever stayed. A room we stayed looked like a medieval monk chamber. Hostel’s location is extraordinary special and convenient: exactly at the entrance to the old city. But the room itself is rather unusual than convenient: it’s stuffy, facilities are not properly walled from the room, and sound insulation is poor.
We do our best to make it all better don't forget that a hostel is never like a hotel, if so no one will stay in hotels and pay hundreds of $ each night, you are welcome again my friend.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Jaffa Gate Hostel. The staff were really friendly and the location was fantastic. The hostel was a bit shabby, but clean. One thing to note: the rooms do not lock, so any valuables need to be kept locked up at the front desk (this seems rather normal at hostels in Jerusalem).
Dear Kathleen, thanks for the nice review, about your note, THE DORM ROOM ONLY are not locked so that other people staying in that room can get in, All private rooms can be locked of course, you are most welcome again and again.

worst hostel ever, no place to keep your stuff safe while youre out, sheets are old and uncomfortable and smell like they havent been washed in months, dont buy anything from the citadel cave souvenir shop next door theyll rip you off hard core
worst guest we ever had, before even you checked in, you were on the phone swearing and shouting and crying about bad things happened to you before arriving, don't blame the hostel for ripping you off out there, we got nothing to do with the shops out side, if you like don't buy from any of them. what you said about sheets is a big lie.

We rented two private rooms and it cost us 30 USD a person. our room was not that bad, but the others room was terrible. If they ever try to put you in room 4 fight claw and scream until they change you room. good location, friendly staff, but a little over priced.
any one can check prices of other hostels online, our hostel is not over priced at all, if you are coming here to claw and scream please don't book this hostel, our most important aim is to satisfy you without screaming.

I had a wonderful time at the Jaffa Gate hostel. Noor and Asim run a fabulous operations, and the Hostel is located right in the old city. Bath rooms can be a bit cleaner, but considering what I was paying this place is a bargain, and it caters to all needs: from shared dorms to private rooms. I will probably get a private room on the 2nd or 3rd floor next time
