Jailhouse Accommodation in Turin, New Zealand

Close to the train station, but a long walk from where the Intercity bus dropped us off, bearing in mind that a lot of Christchurch centre has been cordoned off following the earthquake. Accommodation was clean and comfortable.Kitchen was average cleanliness, but well-equipped.Staff friendly.The main reason for staying here for us was the novelty factor, and the accommodation didn't disappoint. the rooms were cold and there was no form of heating the room. Considering it was July and the NZ winter it was a let-down. There was no socket in the room. The toilet/showerroom was very cold also.

Hi Brenda, thanks for your comments. There is heating in the rooms, but I noticed you arrived quite late at night so I'm sorry you found it cold then. There are spare duvets for every bed, hot water bottles and there are definetly sockets in every room. The ladies shower room has underfloor heating as well.

This hostel is freezing!!! There is no heating. If you want to pay money to basically sleep in a freezing cold jail then stay in this place. I stayed in a 2-bed dorm cause thats all that was available and it was tiny. The staff, however, were really nice and friendly. Marianne, from England ~ 10th Sep 2011
