- “ I put average because I never actually got to stay at the Jazz on Amsterdan avenue due to an issue with hostels.com ”

- “ This is not a hostel, I am sorry to say that but it looks like a brothel or a shelter , filthy, dirty, cockroach, unfriendly staff. I was wondering how this facility is allowed by the city to open for business ”

- “ I've been travelling all o er America for 3 months and this is by far the worst excuse for a hostel I have stayed in. The room is half a shoebox. Absolutely filthy, infested with cockroaches. Staff were unhelpful. I was greyed with a frown and not even given directions to my room or told what facilities were available. There is no free wifi. The only redeeming factor was that I only stayed one night and spent the wole night laughing with my room mate about the conditions of the hotel. ”

- “ Great place to stay, no problems whatsoever. Kept quite clean. Bathrooms cleaned often and sheets changed a few times over the course of the week. The lounge was great. The kitchen was fairly small though I didn't cook there often besides the odd bowl of cereal. 'Continental Breakfast' is kind of a joke though. I am not so into dry bagels, however, there was also complimentary mediocre coffee. Also, it would be nice if wifi was included. ”

- “ Near subway line 1, very convenient. Neighborhood is quite and well illuminated. walking to the metropolitan museum is just about 15min across the central park. ”

- “ Staff were so friendly and helpful. Couldnt of asked for nicer people. The price was unbelievably cheap for the location also. felt saf in the hostel and was happy to let them mind my bags. ”

- “ Clean, air condiditoned, great lounge in basement, My only complaint, and its a little one, is that the small lockers in dorms require your own padlock. The corner bodega did not sell them, the hostel did not rent them, and the website did not mention this fact. I had to go across town to buy one in spite of the fact that I had one at home I could have brought with me. ”

- “ The staff-person was really nice and helpful, and I didn't feel bad ever asking him for help and favors. Suggestions: I feel there should be more of a common area, and I strongly suggest the TV in the common area should be removed - it is antisocial, and removing it will foster face-to-face discussion around people, which is part of what hostels are about. ”

- “ This hostel was great for someone on a budget, very close to the subway and cheap delis etc to grab dinner, the rooms are small but clean, bathrooms were clean but some were a bit scary so i recommend looking at all the bathrooms on your floor, only real negative was the humidity, no air conditioning and for a humid week in may the rooms were extremely hot! ”
