One restroom for too many rooms, staff never present.

The property is within walking distance from the French Quarter but the neighbourhood gets somewhat dark at night giving one the feeling of not being safe at all. If you wish to stay out till late at night. consider taking a taxi to get back to the property. Walking, especially if alone, might be dangerous.

We stayed only 2 days, had to book for 3 days. On arrival, the sheets did not smell fresh. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom. On check-out, 10 dollars were requested to leave the bags. We did not dare to park the car in front of the door. This is absolutely a proof of no-customer friendly mindset. The price for these 2 nights was overrated. I will discourage everyone to go there.

No bedbugs as many other reviewers claim to have had to deal with. The staff and Joe and Flo's are amazingly friendly and helpful. For travelers on a budget simply looking for a roof over their head and a lock in their door, Joe and Flo's does the trick.

The reviews we read ahead of time proved to be true. The shower was gross. The bed felt itchy. Our window didn't lock. But the staff was friendly. The location was better then most of the hostels, although still a tiny walk from the french quarter. All and all it was a good experience. It would probably be my last choice if I were to come back to New Orleans

The place is a total dump.

We stayed there for Mardi Gras 2009. First shocker was that they gave us a room which has not been clean, somebody's belongings were there and staff had to remove them. So we assumed that sheets has not been changed either. Thanks God we had our own sheets and blankets. Person who runs hostel was constantly turning heater down, that temperature in the rooms was about the same as outside (about 50F). Again thanks God we had our own blankets. Hostel did not provide blankets at all, only a bed cove

Location is good, not too far from french Quarter - and it didn't seem unsafe to me to walk to there, even in the night. Very good breakfast cafe one block away. Rooms are clean (had the private one), bathroom small but ok. Only problem: staff doesn't care very much about toilet paper, there is mostly none at the bathrooms and no staff around (just a sign telling you to buy your own...).
