  • Very affordable and in great location right by trolly to French Quarter. Accommodations are a bit rustic but everything was clean enough. Had a cute bed and breakfasty vibe. Other reviewers complained about noise but I did not find this to be an issue in the private dorm we rented.

  • The owner has a treasure in his staff of Rob and Dee. Because of their willingness to pick me up or deliver me day or night to my conference and airport, I was able to feel safe. The best improvement would be if the owner would bring his maintenance up to the level of his upbeat staff. A bit of paint, glazing, and plaster repair would have spiffed the place immensely. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean and inviting. Dorm was co-ed.

  • Very unsafe area - I didn't want to leave my car parked there. Also, the staff was just not there when I tried to check in at 7pm, and the entire hostel was empty (and also unlocked). They insisted they were there when I complained, and eventually admitted that they had "stepped out for a few minutes." I found a cheap hotel downtown instead.

  • DO NOT STAY HERE. IT WILL RUIN YOUR NEW ORLEANS EXPERIENCE...This is an inhabitable property. No gas, no hot water, no water pressure. no functioning kitchen. Completely bug infested with roaches, beetles, spiders, etc. and flying insects, like moths. They kept telling us the gas will be on in the morning. It was never turned on. Cold showers every day. I left and asked for a refund for the days I didn't use because the property was inhabitable. They charged my credit card anyway THIS IS A SCAM

  • We left our room and locked the door. We tried to get back in but couldn't. The big problem here - no one is ever at reception. Luckily? we knew the window was unable to be locked, so we got in through the window! Next day, because there WAS no key at all, we moved to another room. The fan in this room didn't work. It was handy having a kitchen, but there was never a lighter or matches for the gas stove. We ordered their shuttle to get to the airport early on our morning, but it never turned up.

  • - Good overall value, especially since we were there for JazzFest. If you don't have a car, you might need cab fare at night. The hostel is in the Treme and several locals had negative comments about the area, which does feel abandoned at night. In the day it's fine. The hostel is two blocks off a major street that's busy at night, and a quick walk to the French Quarter. Facilities get the job done, but the "private double" is a bed and a cot, and the bathroom is shared with the whole building.
