The staff was incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming. Nobody really spoke with me or gave me orientations. When I asked information to some of the gyus at the reception he said "we dont like you here". Awful. I immediately moved to the hostel next doors, which was great. Laura, from Brazil ~ 27th Aug 2009

Perfect hostel for people who don't take themselves or others too seriously and are willing to meet other single travelers, cozy common rooms and possibility for cooking in the kitchen. price-quality ratio was good. Nice multicultural neighborhood, not too centre and public transport is well designed, takes you easily anywhere! Warmly recommend, but open mindedness is required! salla, from Finland ~ 11th Aug 2009

Too little staff presence (only there when appointment to check in), resulting in a lot of noise at all hours - even from the receptionist, without sense of situation shouting and turning on light way past midnight... to find out IF the small bed-lights were working - which they weren't. The idea of a user-run kitchen was nice, but didn't work in practice: bad hygiene, abandoned food and dirty dishes, moldy 'food' in the fridge. But staff (when there) was friendly though. Wouldn't recommen Rita Holst, from Denmark ~ 1st Jul 2009

I wouldn't recommend this hostel for a first time traveller to Berlin as the staff are rarely available to answer any questions - they are in reception by appointment only. Staff seemed a little unfriendly at first but there were plenty of nice comments about them in the guest book so maybe they just had something against me :o). No lockers in rooms but nice hot showers and good breakfast. Kerry, from England ~ 1st Jun 2009

The hostel was in a convenient location to U and S Bahn travel. Everything was reasonably clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful when available, but often there was no one around. If you have questions or need help, ask when staff when you see them. The promised free breakfast was absent one of the three days we were there. I thought 20 euros for a key deposit rather exorbitant compared to what we paid in other hostels. Eight euros for laundry also turned out to be high. Overall, a B- rating. This is a rare hostel cause it is more like shared apartements and you can't lock the door to your own room. One simply must have confidence that the stranger in the room next door is an honest type. On arrival you pay a deposit of 20 euro for the key which is not the case for most hostels - afterall they have your personal information so why pay a deposit? The room I got was really great with a big leather sofa, tables, chairs and a bed. The owners are definitely gay and my first impression Marcel, from Denmark ~ 19th Jan 2009
