Why Choose Friends House Hostel? Friends House Hostel is located in a very diverse historic neighborhood with many of excellent restaurants & bars; for example, El Rey, is a Cuban / Mexican restaurant that is cheap and yummy. They're focus is fresh affordable cuisine. Beavers, a Texas Bar-b-q restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from the hostel. Fresh food grown in they're garden & grass-fed beef is the order of the day. Our hostel is a very friendly personable place. It's quaint, cozy & very intimate. We offer free wi-fi, a free computer in the common room & a cozy area where guests chit-chat & get to know one another. You will definitely create life-long relationships with travelers you meet here as well as with staff members. While we're not a party hostel where it's super loud & crazy, we do allow guests to congregate in the common room to share a 6 pack of beer or a bottle of wine enjoying a peacefully fun good time. Our dorm room is quaint with very very comfy beds & lockers underneath built by Danny who served in the US Army for 10 years and who offers a free self-defense class in his studio @ the hostel. He has some cool moves to share with guests. Leah is all about customer service. She loves to handout free maps of both the local area as well as spending time with guests showing them all the hot spots as well as off-the-beaten path areas too. Breakfast is self-service, so feel free to make coffee or tea @ your convenience 24 hours a day. We also keep oatmeal, bananas & bread in the kitchen so guests can make hot buttery toast (we provide butter & jam too! ) or oatmeal & bananas! We provide sugar & cream for your coffee too! ) We also keep free Ramen Noodles in the kitchen so anytime you're hungry have some soup on us. ) We will look after you & help you create lasting memories of Houston, Texas! Nice place. Nice people. I have a complaint, but it's with Hostels.com. The amount the site said I would owe upon arrival was not what I owed. Tax had not been included and it was a sizable amount on my six-night stay. Also, I paid what was labeled by Hostels.com as a "deposit." Then I got a request from the hostel for a "deposit." I said I had paid it. Apparently, I had not paid a "deposit." I'm not sure what I paid to Hostels.com. Hostels.com needs to be more straight forward with folk

Thank you for your coment. We add 17% Tax to you balance. You pay a 10% deposit plus a $2.00 service fee to hostels.com / hostelworld.com. This is their revenue. Hostels do not receive these deposits / fees. Many Thanks
